We Never Used a Leash On Our Kids

Newark International Airport
March 2003
Ages: 5 and 2

Parents need to teach their kids how to listen to instruction and stay with them while in public places. We also taught our kids to help each other and to "never leave a buddy behind". My husband referred to them as buddies (I didn't mean buddy as in "buddy system").

That's great... It's also important to remember that kids develop at different rates, and some may have problems which will prevent them from controlling their impulses (iand the parents may not be aware of these limitations yet).

Also, circumstances may be different and parents may have to go somewhere where their children have more trouble than in other places.

But one would only know this once he's walked a mile.... You know the rest...
