Some Info on Lyme Disease and Children (Neurological)

For anyone looking for this information:

The Role of Neuropsychological Testing in Children with Lyme Disease by Leo Shea PhD

If it looks like a duck it is not always a duck. Lyme Disease can cause symptoms that look like certain other conditions but they are not really those other things. Lyme Disease can cause some of the same symptoms as ADD, for example, but it doesn't mean the person has ADD, they had brain injury from Lyme Disease.

With certain testing a more conclusive diagnosis can be found. For example my son's (expensive out of pocket expense we paid for ourselves) qEEG shows he does not have brain evidence of ADD or ADHD but he has some of the symptoms of ADD, and he does have a history of many new cases of Lyme Disease and possibly "chronic Lyme Disease". I used quotes as some of our doctors say no such thing exists as chronic Lyme Disease.

Lyme testing can be very inaccurate so if one suspects Lyme disease, they should find a lyme literate doctor to diagnose them clinically through symptoms and history. Many people with Lyme suffer from cognitive and other serious brain symptoms.
