...means no homeschool lessons for us as the neighbors and others in town call and ask to play with my kids. I think they are on snow day #9 since the new year began.
(Our ice crusted driveway on 2/02/11.)
Our house has been central base for the activity.
Sledding down the hill in front when conditions are typical.
Sledding down the driveway when snow's too deep on the hill. Using the snow fort as a launch hill booster.
Building massive snow shelters out of the pile the plow made from our long driveway.
Making snowmen.
Doing snow angels. Yes boys do that too.
Sitting around and on the swingset chatting.
Having Nerf gun wars without bullets in the snow.
Having lunch and snacks and hot cocoa al fresco.
We've hosted sleepovers also.
(One day they were out for over seven hours straight.)
Also, the crew trudging indoors playing xBox360 and Nerf gun wars (with bullets flying by my head). Oh, and a new game Zombie Nerf Gun War which they made up and includes a moaning zombie coming to get the humans who are hiding that then ambush the zombie, working as a team.
I've been baking up a storm, making record numbers of hot cocoa and serving up lunches. I feel like a regular Martha Stewart.

Sounds like a lot of fun.
Snow days are a rarity in our area. The mild Vancouver climate doesn't bring too many debilitating snow storms. Reading your post here though makes me think my kids are missing out. We have to go up to the mountains for them to play in the snow. They can't simply walk out the door and make snow angels whenver they feel like it in the winter. Ah well. What we lack in snow, we make up for by having beautiful coastlines, mountains, forests and all the wonder that nature brings with those things. Thanks for posting!
