On a whim last summer I bought some sight unseen for about $2.50 a skein, from eBay (sold in lots of ten skeins). The warnings were correct. The yarn varied from one thread to thick, and had some balls and knots. It was scratchy and shed. The color variations are great from skein to skein and within one skein it can range also to have some horrid color clashes (see below).
I tried making a hat of it and found that after knitting it stretched and could not hold shape, so I ripped that apart.
I found another seller on eBay, Knitter's Knot who takes the recycled sari yarn and processes it further. That is sold for $4 a skein and it is softer. There is less shedding and the colors are more similar and deeper in tone, all jewel tones and less of the screeching harsh colors (see below).
Although I'd planned to make a sweater by combining this with other solid, coordinating colors I worry that it won't hold its shape. Therefore I don't know what to do with this yarn.
In the mean time I'll just look at it and admire it, I guess.

Maybe you could make some fuzzy slippers? or baby doll outfits?... or a fun little hand bag?... theres lots of fun easy patterns out there if you need one... I have a couple I would be happy to send you.. It IS very pretty... lol.. but what a pain to be able to do something with it...
Its nice to know that Someone else bought the eBay sari yarn and found it sheddy scratchy and of poor quality. Too bad the postage's to high to return the yarn. My yarn has bad smell. I am thinking of using yarn to make a belt
