Existential Questions From My Then Nine Year Old Son
Today while decluttering credit card receipts I found a scrap piece of paper with these questions on it. I was so surprised that my then nine year old (younger son) asked these one right after the other, out of the blue, that I jotted them down.
When these questions come up I struggle to come up with some response. On a busy day when I'm tired I am sometimes completely unable to conjure something up.
These are the questions I was asked, verbatim:
1. How do we know this world is real and not just a dream?
2. What is the point of life and this world?
3. If we're just going to grow old and die why are we here?
There's a photo of my son taken the same week he asked the questions.
