Today while decluttering credit card receipts I found a scrap piece of paper with these questions on it. I was so surprised that my then nine year old (younger son) asked these one right after the other, out of the blue, that I jotted them down.
These are the questions I was asked, verbatim:
1. How do we know this world is real and not just a dream?
3. If we're just going to grow old and die why are we here?
There's a photo of my son taken the same week he asked the questions.

I would love to know what the appropriate response would be for those questions? Our daughter at 3.5 asked us numerous questions on death and after life which were hard enough. I'm not sure what I would say if our daughter asked questions like your son down the line. Much appreciated!
Wow, those are some deep questions. I think I'm glad that my girls aren't asking those ones yet.
Ah...yes...you have a budding philosopher there! Congratulations!
Thanks everyone for commenting.
I am going to blog my long reply to Joyful Learner today instead of putting it here.
Hi your son is so handsome and looks like he is very happy. I have a nineteen year old son too who is in the university.
