Apparently knitted sweaters are in style this year.
I was astounded to find four long racks of sweaters at TJ Maxx plus others on circular special display racks. Ditto for Marshall's.
Many are very stylish and contemporary looking, fashionable, not dowdy. There was a large range. There are short sleeved sweaters in heavy yarns (not at all right for wearing in New England unless paired with a heavy long sleeved shirt for arm warmth. There were even long coat type sweaters, some almost down to the knee. There were belted sweaters, longer sweaters and others that fell more to the waistline. Some were a little glitzy or fancy and would be perfect for winter holiday parties such as for Christmas celebrations.
The prices are ridiculously cheap. I found a gorgeous long coat sweater marked at $268 for $40, in merino wool in a lovely darkish green shade. I was thinking that is a lot of yarn so it would even be worth buying to frog and reknit the yarn into something else! (The seams were such to allow for this.)
There was a large amount of wool and wool blends, and a table full of cashmere. I saw merino wood also. There were of course, acrylics and acrylic blends.
And apparently cowl necks are back in style. Who knew?
I restrained myself and only purchased two.
Happy shopping!
