This year for my birthday, I again was treated to a homemade (from scratch) dessert instead of a traditional birthday cake. The recipe is called Yia Yia's Hot Chocolate Souffle. My husband made dinner and dessert for me, the kids, my parents and my mother-in-law.
This seems to be the same dessert as I had while on my honeymoon when we went out to dinner at Domaine Chandon in the Napa Valley.
This dessert has a cake like crust. The center sinks as it cools. When you spoon into the center it is runny and hot, liquid chocolate.
This recipe calls for it to be served with french vanilla ice cream on the side. I prefer freshly whipped cream. I think it came with a red raspberry sauce and some fresh raspberries and whipped cream at Domaine Chandon.
This is to die for. If you are a chocolate lover I can't recommend it highly enough.
It is also easy to make. One caveat is you have to have ramekins to bake them in.
Enjoy.
