I have been named a winner of The Thinking Blogger award. Any blogger can give another blogger this award.
I thank Jenny of Life is Not a Cereal for granting me this award!
Here is the background information about The Thinking Blogger award.
As part of accepting this award I must share in this post five bloggers who make me think.
1. I grant this award to Mental Multivitamin. Although MMV has already been nominated by a few other bloggers I must be truthful and say that I regularly read Mental Multivitamin and she makes me think. I am encouraged to continue to educate myself and to not focus on just whining at my anger that my own public education was lacking—that it is up to me to keep educating myself in my adulthood. It is also good for me to read the blog of a homeschooling mother whose oldest child is much older than my children. I like the fact that we also share a book obsession and love to read and that we are both using the classical method to educate our children at home.
2. I award Consent of the Governed, authored by Judy Aron. Judy lives in the same state as I do and she has been one of the homeschooling activists who has worked and helped keep homeschooling freedoms we are fortunate to have here in Connecticut. I have been influcnced by Judy since before I was even on the Internet and way before her blog was created. Judy’s blog allows her a platform to discuss issues important to her, whether they are related to homeschooling and religion or to politics or whatever else is on her mind. Thanks Judy for blogging about stuff that really matters, for not filling your blog with fluff and for also discussing non-homeschooling topics on your blog. And thanks for your non-blog, volunteer work for homeschoolers as well.
3. I nominate the Cates of Why Homeschool for highlighting important online artices and topics relevant to homeschooling, education and parenting. Whether the blog entry is short but links to an important topic or whether the blog post is long and thoughtful, Henry and Janine Cate make me think. The Carnival of Homeschooling has been a wonderful way for homeschooling bloggers to find each other as well as is helpful for anyone curious about homeschooling, so kudos are due for helping everyone who reads and contributes to the Canival of Homeschooling to think.
4. Dana of Principled Discovery gets my nomination as she is clearly a thinking person and a thinking blogger. Her posts are eloquent and well written. She is not afraid to state her opinion. She can do this without being nasty toward others. Her opinion is her opinion and she has a right to it and so I respect her (I feel the same way, if you didn’t know that). Dana makes no apologizes for her opinions, you are free to agree or disagree with them or to read or not read her blog posts I also like that Dana talks about current events relating to homeschooling, education policy and some polticis here and there and that she not just links to a story but gives quotes she feels are important and then she explains her thoughts. This is what a thinking person does, read, think and then comment. Hooray.
5. I also award Pam Hogeweide of How God Messed Up My Religion for The Thinking Blogger award. I recently discovered her blog and find her thoughts on Christianity and being a Christian vs. a “Christ Follower” very interesting. One thing I enjoy is that she is clearly a thinking person as she sometimes strays from the typical path that you may assume she is following and when she does she explains her thoughts and she owns them. I also enjoy that sometimes her posts read like she is thinking out loud or as if I am having a conversation with her, which is a good thing.
This was a fun blog meme to play with. Thank you again for the award, Jenny!

Thank you Chris for the award! I haven't blogged in about two weeks and just recently was thinking, Why bother? You have encouraged me to keep my presence in the blogosphere.
Easter blessings to you and your family from me and mine here in Portland, Oregon.
Wow! A big hearty congratulations to you! You certainly have earned that one. I've been reading your blog for quite awhile and you always give me something to think about.
